Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hardcourt

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his initial title for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The Russian, a former number one, has endured a challenging season, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.

His varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in specific - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with long-term coach Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested three-set triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's first title after the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface after that period of 2023.

Success also means Medvedev has won 21 championships at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"It's the first time I have attended a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, featuring in that event in the past months.

His retrieving play style and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had caused observers to doubt if his ability to play at the top level was over.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and compete aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced service.

He recovered from a break down in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, winning four of the final five exchanges to go ahead.

Both players traded service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his first ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to force a third set.

The opponent defended four initial chances in a competitive deciding set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner earned the win with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to control a return after a lengthy match.
